Meet Sofia Rosenberg-Klainberg, MS, RN: 2024 Karen Edlund Future Nurse Leader Awardee!

I am extremely honored to have won the 2024 Karen Edlund Future Nurse Leader Award, and I am so grateful I listened to the friend who asked me to join an NSRH meeting one day after class. Doing so opened up a community of engaged and incredible leaders and rich educational opportunities that have been integral to my education as a nurse midwife.
2023 KE Award Recipient

Outside of school I serve as a birth and postpartum doula, with the organization Homeland Heart. I feel that my past experiences solely cultivated my desire for nursing, reproductive health justice, and women’s health. Which is why I aspire to become a Certified Nurse-Midwife.

What We Need to Remember this National Hispanic Nurses Day

“So, as we celebrate Bisexuality awareness week, Latinx heritage month, and National Hispanic Nurses Day, I urge you to pay special attention to the role American nurses have played in establishing the state of nursing in Latin America. I also caution us from celebrating the myth of homogenized, universal “Latinidad” this Latinx heritage month. Rather, let us all look at the US role as facilitators of these countries’ socialization into American norms and practices through the nursing field.”
