Options Counseling

These video-based learning tools, created by RHEDI, aim to model effective patient-centered, non-directive counseling to patients about pregnancy decision-making. Each video has an accompanying set of discussion questions designed to deepen learners’ knowledge and skills about patient-centered pregnancy option counseling.

Three video scenarios illustrate the decision-making process when a patient receives a positive pregnancy test result. This five-part video series and companion discussion guide can be used by a trainer to conduct a facilitated discussion among a group of staff, or by an individual who would like to see a demonstration of effective client-centered counseling.

This course is an introduction to options counseling for pregnancy decision making.

Workshops offered through ​​​​​​​ All-Options that are facilitated or self paced trainings on pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption, values clarification, and judgment-free options counseling. The trainings are for healthcare and social service providers, advocates, educators, counselors, doulas, and anyone who’s curious about supporting pregnant people with respect and without bias or judgment.​​​​​​​

Audiences will learn to discuss positive pregnancy results and patient-centered, unbiased manner, and be able to explain standard protocols for adoption, medication, and aspiration abortion
